About
Alpha Omicron

The Alpha Omicron Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated, grew out of the realm of Nu Alpha Chapter and was chartered on Nov. 26, 1946, when some local young men sought to preserve and establish a chapter in Rocky Mount, providing that “like minded men, immersed in the true Omega Spirit” could accomplish this feat.

Due to hard work and nine dedicated men, with the line name “Doctor’s Bag Please,” Omega Psi Phi Fraternity came true to Rocky Mount.

The charter members were:

1) Bro. W.T. Armstrong

2) Bro. Alexander "Tuffy" Bryant

3) Bro. Montera Davis

4) Bro. David Ghist

5) Bro. Theodore Long

6) Bro. Joseph W. Parker

7) Bro. W.H. Patillo

8) Bro. Pete Rawlings

9) Bro. Clarence Lorenzo Shoffer

At the time, Nu Alpha Chapter, founded in Wilson, North Carolina on November 17, 1936 was comprised of members from the areas of Greenville, Washington, and New Bern, however, as a result of proximity and growth in Greenville, an adequate number of true Omega men to support a stable and impactful chapter was obtained.
